Vacuum die casting production for classic car spare parts

Vakuumguss Fertigung für Oldtimer Ersatzteile

Larger plastic parts with lengths of more than half a metre or spare parts with larger cross-sectional areas can often no longer be efficiently produced using additive manufacturing (3D printing). A remedy is provided by a technology that is used for prototypes and small series of plastic parts and is very efficient here. In the vacuum casting process, plastics, for example casting resins, are poured into silicone rubber moulds. The casting takes place under vacuum to prevent air pockets in the material. The silicone mould is tempered during the casting of the materials to create optimal conditions.

If no well-preserved original of the spare part is available, it is also possible to create a master model of the spare part using digitisation and 3D printing. This is used to produce the silicone mould and finally to carry out the small series of the corresponding component by means of vacuum casting. Quantities of 10-50 pieces are common, depending on the size and material of the mould and the spare part.

The technology is super suitable for the area of “rapid prototyping” and is also favoured by us for larger plastic parts in small series production.

Please feel free to ask for a free quotation for the vacuum casting production of your classic car spare parts made of plastic.

An example component can be seen in the following photo.

Shown here is a licence plate holder for a Mercedes vintage car, for which we were able to make use of vacuum casting technology. The holder goes over the entire rear area of the vehicle and borders on both sides of the rear lights. Many classic car spare parts, such as reflectors, plastic strips and holders, up to containers for coolant, wiper water or other liquids can be converted.

Your plastic part can also be produced by vacuum casting.
